Dog friendly accommodation

Bring you dog on holiday?

For many, the dog is part of the family, and leaving furry friends behind during a holiday can be heartbreaking. But what if we told you that bringing your dog on a winter holiday in the mountains is not only possible but also a fantastic experience for both two- and four-legged companions? At Lillehammer Fjellstue, your dog is warmly welcomed!

Here are some great reasons why bringing your dog on your winter adventure can be an excellent idea!

We’re proud to promote ourselves as a dog-friendly accommodation. We have designated certain cabins, apartments, and rooms where dogs are warmly welcomed along with responsible owners. By responsible, we mean ensuring that dogs are not left alone, do not disturb other guests with barking, or cause damage. Naturally, thorough cleaning is required before departure.

At the reception, we offer a small selection of dog items for sale, such as paw socks, dog food, treats, and food and water bowls. The latter can also be borrowed if forgotten at home. We also provide ground anchors for securing your dog outside. Remember, in the Lillehammer mountains, leashing is mandatory between April 1 and August 20, and dogs must also be on a leash in the ski trails during the winter season.

We are committed to keeping nature clean, so it’s important that all guests clean up after their dogs. Complimentary small black waste bags are available at the reception.

If you would like to bring your dog, please select this option during the booking process. The additional cost for bringing a dog is NOK 350 per stay, and you can bring multiple dogs for this price.

Snooped for everyone 🐾❄️

Dogs love snow! Whether it's rolling around in the snow, running through it, or digging for treasures hidden under the white blanket, your dog will be at his best on winter holidays in the mountains. The snow provides both entertainment and exercise, and it's impossible not to smile when you see the joy in your dog's eyes when he jumps in the fresh snow.

Keep you dog in a leash in the ski trails 🐾

Bringing your dog on a winter holiday can also be a great way to connect with other dog lovers. Many mountain destinations offer dog-friendly activities, and it’s not uncommon to meet others who have brought along their furry companions. This can lead to pleasant conversations with fellow dog owners while the dogs play and socialize together.

However, keep in mind that in the Lillehammer mountains, leashing is required in the ski trails. If you’re snowshoeing or skiing off the trails, you can let your dog off-leash as long as you have full control. Additionally, all illuminated trails in Lillehammer Municipality require dogs to be on a leash.
