Winter at Nordseter

- A snow covered sanctuary free from light pollution
When winter arrives at Nordseter, the summer roads close, and the area transforms into a snow-covered paradise. The old winter roads become cross-country ski trails winding through serene forests and open plains, far from noise and light pollution. Here, you can enjoy undisturbed natural experiences, as parts of the trail network pass through areas without electricity, allowing the stars to shine exceptionally bright in the evenings.

With over 600 km of well-groomed trails and access to an even larger network at Sjusjøen and Hafjell, Lillehammer Fjellstue at Nordseter is the perfect destination for a winter holiday filled with tranquility, activity, and the magical beauty of nature.

Trail nettwork and preparation

We are very proud of the excellent ski trails at Nordseter. The trails are organized by Lillehammerfjellet Tur- og Løypeselskap SA in close collaboration with Øyer and Sjusjøen, with Sjusjøen responsible for grooming the trails at Nordseter.

Sjusjøen Husky Tours fir en fin opplevelse med hund og slede

Sjusjøen Husky Tours

Try dog sledding with eager Alaskan Huskies—a truly amazing way to experience nature in harmony with animals. Two people share their own sled and drive it themselves after receiving instructions.

Dog sledding is a fantastic activity for both summer and winter, suitable for both young and old. Anyone over 13 years old can drive a sled themselves or simply ride along. Children ride as passengers, and the activity is also well-suited for those with injuries or disabilities. Guides accompany the tour, both at the front with the lead sled and at the back.

Today, the team has around 115 dogs, all Alaskan Huskies. Many of them will compete this winter in races like the Gausdal Marathon, Femundløpet, and Finnmarksløpet. All the dogs are incredibly friendly and love attention, so don't hesitate to say hello!

The winter tours are available in lengths of 6, 15, or 30 km. After every tour, we relax in a warm lavvu (Sami tent), enjoying stick bread and hot drinks.

Ski rental an ski instruction at  Nordseter

Ski instruction is important because proper guidance helps you use your energy more efficiently, allowing you to ski longer and faster without getting as tired so you can enjoy the landscape and your ski trip.

The instructor helps fine-tune both classic and skate skiing techniques, improving flow and balance on the trails. This also reduces the risk of strain injuries. For beginners, instruction provides a safe start, while experienced skiers can receive tips to perfect their technique.

With the right technique, we guarantee that your experiences in our magnificent winter wonderland will be even better for both adults and children.

The ski school at Nordseter has been operating for decades and has taught many skiers, young and old, valuable skiing techniques. Book lessons and equipment on the Nordseter Fjellpark website, and pick them up at the Service Center just up the road from Lillehammer Fjellstue.
