Is your family dreaming of a summer full of adventure, animals, history and fun? From Lillehammer Fjellstue at Nordseter, you have a short distance to some of Norway's best family attractions. Here's an overview of what to expect – and tips on how to make the most of your trip.
Hunderfossen Adventure Park
Only half an hour's drive from Lillehammer Fjellstue is Hunderfossen Adventure Park – one of Norway's most visited amusement parks, with over 60 attractions for young and old.
Here you will find the Trollfallet, where brave souls sneak through the trolls' part of the Fairytale Castle to save the princess (height requirement 120 cm). You can take a seat in the legendary Il Tempo Extra Gigante from Flåklypa Grand Prix, whizz down in the water park with water slides and pools for all ages, paddle Hunderfossen Rafting on an artificial river, or hike through Ivo Caprino's Fairytale Cave. In the evening, theatre performances are played at Kongsgården – in 2026 the performance is called "The fairy tales that disappeared".

Children's Farm
Right next to Hunderfossen Adventure Park is the Children's Farm – a visitor farm that is included in our Adventure Package. Here the children can get close to real farm animals: deer, fallow deer, llama, alpaca, pigs, cows, sheep, goats, horses, donkeys and emu. Feed bags are purchased at the entrance, and information sheets are included about how each animal likes to be fed.
In addition to the animals, you will find the rabbit ice park, the Ekornstien climbing trail and an off-road car track for the slightly older children (100-150 cm). There's also a farm quiz that takes you through the entire farm with questions about the animals – perfect for curious kids.
The Children's Farm is a quiet and close experience that is particularly suitable as a contrast to a day full of speed and excitement in the Adventure Park.

Lilleputthammer Family Park
About 25 minutes from Lillehammer Fjellstue, near Hafjell, is Lilleputthammer Family Park – a charming little town from the 1930s made especially for children between 1 and 8 years old.
Here, the little ones can ride trains, cars, boats and Ferris wheels, try a roller coaster, whizz down in Ola's frog jump or challenge themselves in a climbing park. There is always adult space in the attractions, so even the youngest can participate safely. In July, there are theater performances, reading sessions and meet-and-greet with the mascots Ola and Hedda.
Lilleputthammer is best for the youngest in the family and a natural choice if you are traveling with children under 8 years old. Parking is free.

Maihaugen open-air museum
In the center of Lillehammer, about 20 minutes from Nordseter, is Maihaugen – Norway's largest open-air museum with over 200 historic buildings from different eras. Here you walk through medieval stave churches, 1800s smallholdings and a typical Norwegian rural town from the early 1900s, while actors in historical roles bring the past to life.
In the summer, children can greet farm animals on mountain pastures, try their luck at fishing with bamboo poles and worms, and solve the exciting farm quiz "Mission: Impulses" inside the main building. Maihaugen is just as good for adults as it is for children, and a nice choice on a day you want something a little quieter and more cultural.
