Situated approximately 850 meters above sea level, Nordseter is famous for its excellent hiking opportunities, both in summer and winter. With its close proximity to Lillehammer's town center, you can easily combine peaceful days in the mountains with action-packed days exploring the city's many attractions.
Hunderfossen Eventyrpark and Barnas Gård
One of the most popular family parks near Lillehammer is Hunderfossen Eventur Park Park a real adventure park based uopn the old Norwegian fairytales.
Located just a 30-minute drive from Nordseter, the park offers a wide range of activities for the whole family. Here, you’ll find attractions such as the Fairytale Castle, rafting, carousels, and Norway's largest climbing park. The park is also renowned for its focus on Norwegian culture and folklore, providing a unique experience for visitors of all ages.
In 2023, the park introduced the new Musikkfabrikken (The Music Factory), a spectacular 4D attraction designed for the entire family to enjoy together. Step into a magical world of sound, color, and play where the best of classical music meets fun animations, humor, joy, and delightful surprises. It’s an experience like no other in the world, and it was even awarded the title of World's Best Attraction at the theme park industry's "Oscars" in Hollywood.
To get to the park, we recommend driving via the mountain road through Pellestova and down to Hafjell and Hunderfossen. This scenic route offers stunning mountain views, and on fine days, there are excellent spots for a swim along the way.

Barnas Gård at Hunderfossen is a charming farm where children can get up close to the animals. Just a short drive from Nordseter, the farm offers a variety of animal experiences, including feeding goats, rabbits, chickens, and many other animals. This is a fantastic opportunity for children to learn about animal care and farm life in a fun and interactive way.
Lilleputthammer Familypark
Lilleputthammer is a family park specially designed for children aged 1–9 years. Located in Øyer/Hafjell, about a 25-minute drive from Nordseter, the park is a miniature version of Lillehammer town as it was in the 1930s. Here, children can ride small trains, cars, planes, and boats. The park also features a variety of carousels and playgrounds to ensure the youngest visitors have a fun-filled day.
There are climbing towers, jumping pillows, trampolines, Ola’s Mini Golf, sandboxes, diggers, obstacle courses, face painting, Ola’s Train, and many other exciting activities for the little ones. For adults, there are comfortable outdoor lounges and dining areas to relax while the kids play.
Jorekstad Pool Area
If your family enjoys water activities, Jorekstad Fritidsbad is the perfect choice. Located just 15 kilometers from Nordseter, this water park features indoor and outdoor pools, slides, and hot tubs. There’s also a wellness area for adults, allowing the whole family to enjoy a relaxing day.
Maihaugen
Maihaugen isn’t a traditional amusement park but an open-air museum offering an educational experience for the entire family. Located in Lillehammer's town center, it’s one of the largest open-air museums in Norway, featuring over 200 buildings from various historical periods.
Here, children can learn about Norwegian history and culture through interactive exhibitions and activities such as wood carving and traditional games. Maihaugen also offers a dedicated program for families with children, providing engaging and educational activities.
Norwegian Road Museum
The Norwegian Road Museum has a national responsibility for preserving the history of roads, vehicles, and tunneling. Located near Hunderfossen Adventure Park, it serves as the museum for the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. The museum preserves and shares history, artifacts, and cultural landmarks. It also includes the Norwegian Tunneling Museum and the Norwegian Vehicle History Museum.
During the summer season, the museum offers a variety of engaging activities for children, such as horse and carriage rides, pony riding, playrooms, treasure hunts, a ghost tunnel, and scavenger hunts throughout the museum. It’s truly worth a visit if you’re in the area.
Snilsberg Familiy Park
Located in the heart of Ringsaker municipality, midway between Hamar and Lillehammer, Norway's Greenest Family Park is just a 45-minute drive from Nordseter.
The park is known for its animals, activities, and nature experiences across its 55,000 square meters. While adults can relax and enjoy the surroundings, children can play and have fun.
The slightly over one-kilometer-long nature trail winds through beautiful cultural landscapes with expansive views of Lake Mjøsa, where the paddle steamer Skibladner may appear in the distance. Encounters with animals and engaging activities bring joy, comfort, and satisfaction to children. Along the trail, there are several seating areas and playgrounds for kids to enjoy.
In the Mini Farm section of the garden, you’ll find petting animals, trampolines, a fire truck, pedal tractors, toy cars, and more.
