Activities for children in nature at Nordseter
There is a lot to do in the nature around Nordseter, and sometimes the children may need a little help to get started with play. However, the most important thing is that the adults participate – children think it's great fun when adults are involved! Here are some suggestions for what you can do out in the local area.
Make a farm out of pine cones
There is a lot of forest at Nordseter and pine cones can become animals by putting "bones" of small sticks between the pine cones. Spruce and pine cones can be transformed into sheep and pigs, while black cones are suitable for chickens and cats. Collect branches, stones and bark to make the house and fence for the farm. Soon you'll have an entire pine cone farm!
Find things in nature that start with "S" or "B"
Create a team competition where the children have to find the most things in nature that begin with the letter "S" or "B". Set a deadline of 5 minutes – who manages to collect the most? This is a fun way to learn more about nature.
Bark boat race
There are many lakes and streams around Nordseter that are well suited for a bark boat race. Use bark from old spruce or pine trees and nail out small boats. Attach a stick as a mast and a blade as a sail. An exciting race can be arranged in the stream at Sandbakken or Nevelvann. Alternatively, you can drop pegs into the river from a bridge and see which one reaches the other side first.
Remember that it must always be accompanied by adults when the children play by the water.
Fish bounce
Find flat rocks and throw them across the surface of the water on Nevelvann or Reindeer water to make them bounce. Compete to see who gets the most bounces - here it is important to practice both precision and technique!
Charades
A simple game where the children mime animals, while the others guess. This can also be done in teams, where one team mimes and the other guesses. This activity guarantees a lot of laughter and fun!
Nature trail
Put together a nature trail adapted to the children's age and the season. Tasks can be to find an insect that is not an ant, find different leaves or pine cones, or collect different types of stones. After completing the trail, the children can receive a diploma – visit the reception, and we will arrange it.
Let loose at the play areas
After all the walks and activities in nature, the children can enjoy themselves at the play areas by the cabins and apartments. We have balls and bandy equipment to borrow at the reception for even more fun!
Board games on a rainy day
If there are days with bad weather, and you are tired of being outside, we lend board games at the reception. Here you can either sit down and play in front of the fireplace - you are allowed to bring your packed lunch inside - or you can borrow games to take with you in your room or to the cabin or apartment.
