Although the snow has not yet covered the mountains, dog sledding does not have to wait until winter. Sjusjøen Husky Tours offers an exciting opportunity to experience dog sledding in the autumn, with cool troll wagons gliding through the landscape.
This is a unique experience that allows you to get up close and personal with the eager dogs, in stunning surroundings. Remember that the walks are weather dependent, as the dogs thrive best when the temperature is cooler than 12 degrees. Please contact reception for reservations and more information.
Hiking
Autumn is the perfect time to put on your boots and explore the varied hiking trails near Lillehammer Fjellstue. Choose between short excursions or long hikes to beautiful mountain peaks to enjoy the view. When you are out hiking, you can encounter local wildlife such as sheep, cows, moose, hares and foxes.
For the adventurous, it is possible to take a challenging mountain hike that takes you over several peaks and gives you a breathtaking view of the area. Start from Pellestova and follow the route that takes you through varied landscapes and scenic areas. You will experience a number of mountain peaks, including Hafjell, Slåseterfjell, Nevelfjell, Ytre Nysæterhøgda, Kriksfjell and Veslefjell. Each peak has its own unique charm, and you'll be rewarded with panoramic views and a delicious sense of accomplishment when you reach the top of each one.
Waterfall hike along the Mesna River
Enjoy a relaxing and scenic walk along the Mesna River, an experience that appeals to both young and old. When you walk along the banks of the Mesna River, you will come across everything from calm pools, to beautiful dams and spectacular waterfalls. This river has a history dating back to the 1800s and was one of Lillehammer's first tourist attractions. Artists have been inspired by its beauty throughout the ages.
Take a dip in Badedammen, and continue the hike up to the Olympic Park to end the day with a fantastic view.

- Even small children can enjoy taking part in nature trails. The tasks can be, for example:
- Find a non-ant insect
- Find two flowers/berries (different varieties)
- Find three different leaves
- Find four pine cones/shells/snail shells
- Find five different stones (knotty, round, flat, etc.)
- Find six twigs from different trees, etc.
- A diploma is great to receive as proof that all the tasks have been answered - talk to us at the reception, and we will fix it.
Play fish bouncing or charades, and explore an exciting nature trail with tasks that challenge children's creativity and observation skills. After an active day, children can play freely at the cabins and apartments with lending equipment such as balls and children's toys.
Cycling experiences in the mountains
For cycling enthusiasts, Lillehammer Fjellstue is one big playground. With over 600 km of bike paths, it is a dream destination for anyone who loves to explore the countryside on two wheels. Choose between gravel roads, trails with adapted climbing over marshes and adapted trails for mountain biking. Whether you're an experienced rider or a beginner, there are routes that are right for you.
It is also well adapted to help children discover the joy of cycling. If you bring your own bike, our apartments have their own storage rooms where you can safely lock it in the evening. We also have a lockable bicycle stable with options for washing and pumping air.
Fishing opportunities around Lillehammer Fjellstue
There are many good opportunities for fishing at Nordseter. The good fishing spots are easily accessible by car and there are good parking facilities. Some of the locations are HC adapted. The area is varied and consists of forests, marshes, lakes and mountains. There are trout in almost all waters. Otherwise, there are whitefish, perch and pike. If you have more specific questions, we are always helpful at the reception.

Fishing rules
- Access to fishing for everyone who has a fishing license. Fishing with a rod is allowed in all lakes and rivers from 01.01 to 31.12.
- Conservation zones: Nord-Mesna from the regulating dam to Danielsflø and the fish channels at the outlet of Reinsvatn and Melsjøen.
- Fishing from boats is not allowed in Landedemmen, Abbortjern, Matfartjern, Agntjern, Koltjern and Reinsvatn.
- Bellyboat is allowed on Abbortjern as a trial project
- Ice fishing with hand line and perch fishing with traps are allowed in Melsjøen, Mjogsjøen, Matfartjern, Agntjern, Koltjern, Vesletjern, Avskåkån and Nord-Mesna.
- In Nord-Mesna, the fishing rules apply to Ringsaker Hunting and Fishing Area. Fishing in the Mesna river is allowed all year round below Øvstdalsfossen.
- Free fishing for children under the age of 16, cf. Section 18 of the Act relating to salmonids and inland fish, etc.

- Spinner, lure, worm and fly.
- Panther Martin and Sølvkroken Special are good fish catchers.
- Europea 12an and Sreaking Caddies have proven effective.
- Traditional flies such as Olsen, March Brown also have good catch statistics.
